Nurse as Quality Care Advocate: Design and deliver individualized plan of care supported by evidence-based practice. 5. Nurse as User of Technology and Informatics: Utilize information technology skills to support plan of care development. Content outline CONCEPTS: Biophysical: Acid-Base Balance Cellular regulation Digestion Fluids and Electrolytes Immunity Inflammation Infection Oxygenation Perfusion Nutrition Psychosocial: Cognition Development Mood and Affect Self Stress and Coping Trauma Nursing Domain: Assessment Clinical Decision Making Collaboration Communication Teaching and Learning Pharmacology: Oncology Cardiovascular Angina, MI, Stroke Psychosis Bi-Polar Anorexia ISSUES: Complex needs of an aging society, medically complex patients, obesity, changing family roles SKILLS 1. Identify and implement individualized patient interventions that are appropriate for the selected nursing diagnosis. 2. Utilize patient health record and current assessment data to identify actual and potential needs and problems to formulate nursing diagnoses. 3. Provide end of shift report to assigned RN utilizing format per unit policy. 4. Present the Concept Based Learning Activity (CBLA) using evidence-based resources. 5. Identify and report discrepancies in policies and practices related to individual and family well-being. 6. Develop time management strategies for completing patient care in a timely manner. 7.
