National Coming Out Day: October 11

National Coming Out DayOctober 11, is National Coming Out Day the internationally observed day to celebrate and to raise awareness of the LGBTQ community and the LGBTQ civil rights movement. National Coming Out Day was founded in 1988 by Robert Eichberg, a psychologist from New Mexico, and Jean OLeary, an openly gay political leader from Los Angeles. The date of October 11 coincides with the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights.

COCC is committed to providing a safe and respectful learning and working environment for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students and colleagues, and their allies. Join with the campus faculty, staff, and students who are coming out in support this effort.
